Most garage floors are an afterthought. Cracked, stained, dull concrete that just sits there. This one was no different - worn out, showing its age, with cracks that needed to be addressed before a single drop of coating went down. That's exactly the kind of floor we love starting with, because the end result hits that much harder.

Before any coating touches the floor, the prep work has to be done right. We brought in our full diamond grinding setup and worked the entire surface - edge grinding along the perimeter and running the floor grinder across the full slab. This opens up the concrete so the epoxy actually bonds, not just sits on top. We also used a professional-grade epoxy crack filler to take care of the existing cracks. That's a step a lot of guys skip, and it's exactly why some floors start peeling or cracking within a year.

Once the slab was prepped and the cracks were filled, we laid down the base coat - a deep charcoal gray that leveled out across the entire floor. From there, we worked in the metallic pigment and manipulated it while still wet to create that flowing, marbled pattern. No two metallic floors look exactly the same, which is part of what makes this coating so striking. The finish reflects light like polished stone and completely changes how the space feels.

What you end up with isn't just a good-looking floor. Metallic epoxy is seamless, which means there's nowhere for dirt, oil, or moisture to hide. It's easy to clean. It holds up to foot traffic, vehicle weight, and daily use. And honestly, it's the kind of floor that makes people stop and actually look down when they walk into the garage. That reaction never gets old for us.

This is what a proper metallic epoxy floor looks like when the prep work and the pour are both done correctly. No shortcuts on the grinding, no skipping the crack repair, no cutting corners on the metallic application. Just a garage floor that went from forgettable to something the homeowner is genuinely proud of.
