Barbershops live and die by atmosphere. Clients notice everything - the chairs, the art on the walls, the vibe of the space. The floor is no different. When Smiley's Barbershop wanted something that matched the boldness of their brand, a plain concrete slab wasn't going to cut it.
Here's what we were working with - a long, narrow commercial space with dark walls, hexagonal ceiling lights, and a lot of personality already built into the room. The goal was to bring the floor up to that same level. We went with a full black metallic epoxy pour, and we didn't stop there. We designed a custom hexagon inlay pattern right down the center of the floor - tying it directly to the honeycomb lighting above. That kind of intentional detail is what separates a good install from a great one.
The process itself takes precision. Every baseboard and wall edge gets taped and masked off before we pour. The metallic pigment gets worked into the epoxy as it cures, creating those flowing silver and gray swirl patterns that make each floor totally one-of-a-kind. No two metallic epoxy floors ever look exactly the same - that's the nature of the material, and it's one of the things clients love most about it.
What you end up with is a floor that pulls double duty. It looks incredible, but it's also built tough. Epoxy is seamless, moisture-resistant, and easy to clean - which matters a lot in a high-traffic shop where product, foot traffic, and spills are part of daily life. It holds up without losing its shine.
The finished result at Smiley's speaks for itself. The floor now anchors the whole room. That glossy black surface reflects the ceiling lights, the hexagon inlay runs wall to wall down the main aisle, and the whole space feels intentional from the ground up.
