Here's what most people don't think about when they're building out a commercial space - the floor prep. Skip it or rush it, and everything that goes on top is going to fail. Epoxy, self leveler, tile, you name it. If the base isn't clean and solid, you're going to have problems. That's exactly what we were called in to fix at this coffee shop buildout.

The slab had old adhesive glue left behind from previous flooring. That stuff has to come off completely before you can pour self leveler. We ran our concrete grinder across the entire floor to strip the glue and open up the concrete surface. Grinding isn't just about making things smooth - it's about giving the next material something real to bond to. No shortcuts here.

Once the grinding was done and the floor was clean, we moved into the self leveler pour. You can see the material flowing across the slab in wide, sweeping passes. That's exactly what you want - it finds the low spots and creates a consistent, flat surface from wall to wall. Getting the pour right means working fast and methodically, which is why our crew runs this process as a team.

After the self leveler was spread, we came back with the grinder again to knock down any ridges and trowel lines left behind. That final pass is what gives you a truly smooth, ready-to-coat surface. Whether the next step is epoxy, polished concrete, or tile, the floor is now set up to perform long-term. That's the whole point of doing prep work correctly the first time.

Floor problems almost always trace back to prep that was skipped or done wrong. We do this work the right way so the finished floor - whatever it ends up being - holds up under daily commercial traffic. Every solid floor starts with a solid base.
